Meet Our Board of Directors

Mike Dodge Founder Mike Dodge
Mike has been around horses most of his life.
He started riding nearly forty-five years ago but didn't own his first horse until he was twenty years old.
In 1987, he met and married his wife Christine.
That was without a doubt the best thing that ever happened in his life.
As President and Co-Founder, he brings years of management experience to the rescue.
He has a strong love for all animals and at one time many years ago was studying to become a veterinarian but a new family became top priority and he switched his major to small business management.

Chris Dodge Christine Dodge   brings a lot of horse experience to the rescue.   She started out as a teenager with horses and proceeded through life starting her two girls out early in life with ponies   and finally moving up to horses.
Chris holds the position of Executive Vice-President/Secretary and Co-Founder.   Her background includes many years of secretarial skills and was named Secretary of the Year for Eastman-Kodak Company in Rochester, N.Y.   She was a Director for a day program for the adult mentally ill at Turning Point Foundation in Ventura, Ca.
In July of 2000 Chris went out on disability due to a neck injury suffered from a fall off a horse nearly twenty years ago.   She now works with the horses in a limited capacity but is still there everyday, pain or not.

Judy_Maher Judy Maher

Judy Maher is one of our newest board members having come on board in September 2006. Prior to becoming a board member, Judy volunteered at the rescue since July of 2005. Judy shows up every week without fail and always brings treats for the horses. Judy has been very active in the Rochester community and retired from RG&E after 32 1/2 years of service. She still works part time with the Brighton School District. Volunteering seems to be in Judy's blood. She was a nineteen year volunteer with the RG&E's women's chorus. Eighteeen years with the Greece Choral Society. She has volunteered with the first ever Brighton Citizen's Police Academy, the Monroe Community Hospital in the early 1970's, the American Cancer Society, the therapeutic riding program at Meadows of Mendon Stable with our friends Amy and Thane Jenkins(who have three of our horses) and now in her spare time she volunteers with us. In addition to physically being here and helping with the horses, Judy has also been a big financial supporter of the rescue. We are certainly glad to have Judy with us.

Jean_Fiano Jean Fiano

Jean is one of our more experienced horse people. She has won many ribbons and awards in western and english pleasure. Jean joined our board of directors in September 2007. Jean has this to say about herself:"I am a retired elementary school tacher with thirty-three years of service in Gates-Chili and Rochester City Schools. I live in Fairport, NY with my husband, daughter, two dogs and a parrot. We have four children and three grandchildren. My love of horses began when I rode my grandfather's mule for the first as a three old. After that, I was officially hooked on horses! Over the years my equestrian experiences have included barrel racing, western pleasure, english pleasure, side-saddle, native costume, drill team, trail riding, training and barn management. I began volunteering at the rescue in February , 2007 and now I'm hooked all over again. I seem to end up there at least three times a week and it feels like my second home".
In addition to volunteering, Jean has adopted Chase and rides him as often a she can. When the horses came in from the closing of the BOCES Campus in Rush NY, Jean was reunited with Symmetry, the first horse she ever trained for show and was forced to sell him 25 years ago. Symmetry passed away on December 1, 2007 but not before he had a chance to reunite with Jean. He died with Jean, Vic(Jean's husband) and Mike and Chris in attendance. He is buried on the farm surrounded by his friends.

Liz and Bill Liz Lioy

Liz is welcomed as our new treasurer. She volunteered to take over duties from Linda due to Linda taking care of her ailing mother. Liz has an accounting background in the private sector and is keeping us on our toes about all receipts and expenses. Liz adopted little Bill.
